Ludwig: Composer & Improviser

Ludwig: Composer & Improviser

Presented by Saffron Hall

Matthew Barley sitting reading a Beethoven score with a death mask of Beethoven hung on the wall behind him

Celebrating 250 years since the birth of Beethoven, Matthew Barley and friends examine Ludwig’s life through the prism of his cello sonatas.

Arguably better known in his lifetime as a improviser than a composer, Beethoven’s life is vividly brought to life through fascinating discussions, improvisation and performance.
