Britten Sinfonia Messiah Study Afternoon

Britten Sinfonia Messiah Study Afternoon

Presented by Britten Sinfonia

Join Britten Sinfonia and a team of academics and Handel specialists to explore the music, history and context of one of the festive period’s most enduring pieces of choral music.

The afternoon will be led by singer and choral conductor Tom Appleton and includes talks by Samir Savant (Director the London Handel Festival), Ruth Smith (author of Handel’s Oratorios and 18th Century Thought) and BBC Radio 3 presenter and early music specialist Hannah French, plus some of the musicians involved in the performance. There will also be an (optional) chance to rehearse and sing the Hallelujah Chorus alongside the performers as part of the rehearsal for the evening's concert in the Saffron Hall auditorium.

How do I know how much to pay?
You can choose whichever of our payment options suits you best – no catch, no questions. Some people may choose to pay a bit less if they can’t afford the standard price. You might be used to paying a concession price for things, in which case feel free to choose our lower price band. Some people choose to pay a bit more because they want to support the artists, and are in a position where they’re able to do that.
